The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that junior Cara Walker, Phelps, N.Y., Midlakes High School, of the women’s basketball team has been awarded the 2024 Performance-of-the-Year Award for the outstanding individual performance in competition during the year.

On January 12 in the Fighting Tigers 104-20 home North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over the Lynx of Lesley University the Phelps, N.Y. posted a triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in only 23 minutes of playing time.

According to Fighting Tiger Head Coach, Megan Bowman, believes the award is reflective of what the junior transfer brought to the program this year.

“Cara being recognized as our Cobleskill Performance-of-the-Year accurately summarizes the type of impact player she truly is.  If I had to do a scouting report on her; I wouldn’t know where to start nor how to finish. She led our conference in assists and was near the top in steals. Whatever I ask of her the answer is always “yes coach”, and it shows in a box score and in the win column.”

During the season the Fighting Tigers posted a program-best 25-2 overall record winning the NAC Western Division Championship with a perfect 12-0 record versus league opponents during the campaign.
