Nonprofit makes last-ditch effort to save Wells College from closure

In a final effort to prevent Wells College from closing, Dr. Jim Malatras of The Fedcap Group has reached out to the college’s leadership.

The 156-year-old institution announced it would close at the end of the spring semester due to financial struggles, primarily driven by a nearly 40% decline in enrollment since 2016.

According to The Citizen, Fedcap made a formal request late-last week. At this point, the College has not yet responded. The organization believes it could prevent the school from needing to shut down.

College officials previously pointed to years of efforts to avert closure, which all came up short.
