The Wayne County Industrial Development Agency (WCIDA), in collaboration with Wayne County, has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the redevelopment of the former Butler Correctional Facility. The 201-acre site, nestled in the Finger Lakes Region and part of the NY SMART I-Corridor Tech Hub, boasts extensive infrastructure. Prospective developers have until 5:00 p.m. on August 1st, 2024, to submit their proposals.
The property, previously a minimum- and medium-security prison with capacity for 1,200 individuals, includes 44 buildings with facilities ranging from gymnasiums to dining halls. Interested parties are invited to a site visit scheduled for June 11th, with RSVPs due by June 6th.
WCIDA aims to forge a public-private partnership with a Preferred Developer to transform the site, focusing on proposals that promise significant community impacts. Details on submission requirements and evaluation criteria are available on the Wayne County website.
