Mets drop series opener to Braves

After a rainout and a day off, the New York Mets were back in action on Friday night but fell 4-2 to the Atlanta Braves in the series opener at Citi Field.

New York (18-19) managed just four hits in the contest. The first run came off the bat of Francisco Lindor, who belted his seventh home run of the season in the seventh inning. Pete Alonso added a two-out, run-scoring single in the ninth.

Jose Quintana allowed all four runs over five innings of work. Yohan Ramirez and Adrian Houser each fired two scoreless frames.

Box Score

The Mets will try to bounce back and even the series on Saturday with Christian Scott on the bump. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
