  • Staff Report

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Community Theatre is set to hold auditions for its upcoming production of “Bright Star,” a musical inspired by a true story with music by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. Auditions are scheduled for May 10th at 6:30 p.m. and May 11th at 9:30 a.m. at the Midlakes High School Black Box Theatre, with callbacks on May 13th.

Interested adults and high school juniors and seniors are invited to try out, reading from the script, singing, and participating in movement auditions. Auditionees need only attend one session and should enter through door 19 of the school due to other scheduled activities.

Set in the 1920s and ’40s American South, “Bright Star” follows the poignant journey of literary editor Alice Murphy and a young soldier. Directed by Keith E. Childs with music direction by Jennifer Cornwell, the show promises an engaging blend of emotional narrative and beautiful music, running from July 25th through 28th.
