The New York Mets split a four-game series with the Chicago Cubs on Thursday afternoon at Citi Field, winning 7-6 in 11 innings on Francisco Lindor’s walk-off hit.
Chicago (19-13) took a 6-5 lead on Nick Madrigal’s run-scoring double off Danny Young in the top of the 11th, but the Mets (16-15) responded. Lindor, who was too sick to start the game, sliced one down the left-field line for a walk-off two-run double.
New York trailed 4-0 after 4 1/2 innings but tied the game on Brandon Nimmo’s RBI double in the sixth. Lindor also had a two-run double in the sixth, while Nimmo and Starling Marte had RBI singles.
The Mets will head to Tampa to begin a three-game series with the Rays on Friday at 6:50 p.m.
