The New York Yankees (20-12) got back in the win column on Wednesday night with a 2-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles (19-11).

Oswaldo Cabrera hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning, his fourth of the season, and that was the difference in the game as the Yankees pitching staff did an outstanding job.

Luis Gil tossed a career-high 6.1 shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five. Caleb Ferguson and Ian Hamilton combined to get three outs before Clay Holmes recorded a five-out save.

Box Score

The Yankees will try to earn a four-game series split on Thursday afternoon when they send left-hander Carlos Rodón to the mound. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
