A shooting in Avoca, New York, led to the arrest of 66-year-old Willie C. Faniel on assault charges Monday evening. New York State Police responded to a distress call at a residence on State Route 415 shortly after 6:15 p.m., where they discovered a man had reportedly been shot with a shotgun by his neighbor.
Faniel was charged with first-degree assault and taken into custody at the scene. He is currently being held in Steuben County jail, awaiting arraignment. The nature of the altercation or the events leading up to the incident have not been disclosed.
