SwapCycle Earth Day event in Seneca Falls

  • Staff Report

Seneca Meadows landfill announced today the SwapCycle Earth Day event, in partnership with the Town of Seneca Falls and Seneca Housing, Inc., will be held this weekend.  The SwapCycle event will allow Seneca Falls residents to give away usable but unwanted home goods to others instead of disposing of them into the landfill.  This waste diversion strategy is estimated to keep over six thousand pounds of waste out of the landfill and be a money saver for residents as everyday household expenses continue to rise.  Residents should register their items by going to www.senecahousinginc.org/swapcycle .

Seneca Falls residents are asked to place items curbside no earlier than 5:00pm on Friday, April 26.  These items can be picked up by anyone who wishes to participate on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.

Unclaimed items will be picked up by the Town of Seneca Falls on the designated Bulk Waste Pickup Day, Monday, April 29.  Seneca Meadows will receive the bulk waste generated by residents, free of charge to the Town and taxpayers.

Unacceptable items are broken appliances, heavily soiled or broken furniture, radioactive waste, industrial or special waste, free liquid, waste material with less than 20% solids, intact steel or plastic drums or liners, gas cylinders, tires, refrigeration or air-conditioning units, batteries, thermostats, fluorescent bulbs, ballasts, computer or electrical components, yard waste, hazardous materials, mattresses, and suspicious or unrecognizable materials.

All items offered must be in good working order and usable condition.
