In a significant early show of support, Mario Fratto’s campaign for Congress announced Monday it has garnered well over 2,000 signatures for his ballot petition.
The achievement, powered by a network of dedicated volunteers, underscores the grassroots momentum Fratto’s campaign claims to have in contrast to opponents backed by established political forces. Fratto, a local businessman with deep familial ties to the district, emphasized the distinction between his supporters and those of his primary rival, Rep. Claudia Tenney.
“Our grassroots campaign not only met but exceeded our signature collection goal,” Fratto said. “Claudia Tenney’s signatures were collected with the official support of the Republican committees. Her signatures were not collected by grassroots supporters but by establishment operatives.”
The criticism comes as Tenney recently received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
Fratto, who is running his family’s granite construction business, is a fifth-generation resident of the district. He criticized the support Tenney receives, implying a disconnect with the district’s base. “My campaign is fueled by the people of this district, not by the Uniparty machine,” he added.
