Ithaca College celebrated the return of its Educational Technology Day on Thursday, March 21, after a brief hiatus. Held at the Campus Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event marked its 30th anniversary, attracting educators, students, and technology enthusiasts. Free to the public, this year’s Ed Tech Day showcased the latest in office, classroom, and consumer technology, emphasizing the integration of innovative tools in education and academic endeavors.

The event featured an impressive lineup of presenters, including experts from the FBI, NYSERNet, and various leading technology firms, who discussed topics ranging from security in higher education to the latest trends in AI, esports, classroom technology, and data analytics. In addition to informative seminars, attendees explored numerous vendor booths, gaining insights into local technology applications in teaching and research.

Dave Weil, Vice President and CIO of Ithaca College’s Information Technology and Analytics division, highlighted the evolution of technology over the event’s history, from Bluetooth to VOIP and flash drives. Ed Tech Day, he noted, continues to be a pivotal event for showcasing future technological advancements in higher education, drawing a diverse audience from across upstate New York and beyond. Registration was available online or at the door, welcoming all interested parties, not just educators.
