Teen attacker at St. John Fisher now charged with stalking

A 19-year-old freshman at St. John Fisher University, previously accused of threatening a college staff member with a knife, is now facing additional charges of stalking. Brighton Police reported that Shalom Mathews has been charged after several individuals alleged they received unwanted, harassing, and sexually explicit messages from him through social media platforms. Following his arraignment, Mathews was released.

The initial incident involved Mathews allegedly brandishing a knife at an employee within the university’s School of Pharmacy. Authorities detailed that his intention was to restrain the victim and subject her to sexual abuse. However, the staff member managed to fend off the attack and escape harm.

This series of events has shaken the campus community, highlighting the importance of safety and vigilance in educational environments. The university and local law enforcement are taking steps to address the situation and ensure the safety of all students and staff.
