The Ontario and Yates County Soil and Water Conservation Districts, in partnership with the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association, recently announced the 2024 Soil Health Workshop. Set to take place on February 27th, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the Benton Fire Hall, Penn Yan, NY, the workshop aims to unite those passionate about soil improvement, crop and livestock management, and water cleanliness.

This year’s workshop features keynote speaker Eric Fuchs from Understanding Ag, a recognized authority in regenerative agriculture. Fuchs, with his dual expertise as a diversified livestock operator and a source water protection technician, will provide valuable insights into how soil health is intrinsically linked to community water protection efforts.

The event is designed for a wide audience, including farmers interested in ecological and practical approaches to enhance soil health, and community members concerned with preserving natural resources like Canandaigua Lake. Attendees can look forward to learning about the benefits of regenerative farming practices, with the opportunity to earn pesticide applicator and CCA CEUs credits. Advanced registration is encouraged through the event’s website, with a fee of $15 in advance or $20 for walk-ins.
