NWS issues Winter Weather Advisory: Lake snow kicks up tonight

While the major storm system that’s set to bring heavy snow to major cities along the East Coast will miss us here in the Finger Lakes – a few locations will likely see some slippery travel the next 36 hours.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for lake effect snow that will bring 3-6 inches of fresh accumulation to places in Northern Cayuga and Wayne counties.

The advisory runs from this evening through early-Wednesday afternoon.

The NWS says periods of snow will result in snow covered roads and limited visibilities.

There will be additional chances for area-wide snow as an active weather pattern continues on Thursday, then again Saturday and Sunday. However, none of those events look like blockbusters, or anything that will shut down travel across the region.
