Lagana Plumbing & Heating in Newark has once again shown its commitment to the community and veterans by giving away a free furnace to a deserving veteran this past November. The giveaway, which started last year as an annual Veterans Day initiative, aims to honor veterans for their service. This year’s fortunate recipient was Joe Delesio, a Clyde resident, chosen for his unique needs and service in the Navy.
The selection process, described as challenging due to the high regard for all nominees, highlighted Delesio’s particular struggle with heating his home with coal since his furnace broke down. The decision to help Delesio was based on the physical challenges of coal heating and his commendable six-year service aboard the USS Sierra.
Lagana Plumbing & Heating’s act of kindness is part of a broader ethos of giving back to the community, as emphasized by owner Mitch Ruffalo and his team. The company plans to continue this tradition, with nominations for the next Veteran Furnace giveaway opening in October 2024.
