A Palmyra man, Wilson Vega Jr., 29, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation initiated by a Child Protective Services hotline report. The Palmyra Police Department, in collaboration with Wayne County Child Protective Services, responded to the allegations on Wednesday, January 24 at 6:45 p.m.
The investigation revealed that Vega allegedly used excessive disciplinary measures on an eleven-year-old boy on January 17, 2024, resulting in visible bruises. This incident led to the legal action taken against Vega to protect the child’s welfare.
Vega has been released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Palmyra Village Court on Tuesday, March 5 at 5 p.m. to respond to the charges. This case underscores the community’s commitment to safeguarding children’s well-being and the importance of reporting suspected child abuse.
