Auburn Correctional Facility ready for $4.4M modernization

Auburn Correctional Facility is slated for a significant upgrade, with the New York State Office of General Services awarding over $4.4 million in contracts for modernizing the facility’s elevators. The project, overseen by the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, aims to update three elevators, enhancing the infrastructure of the prison. Planning meetings for this initiative are currently being arranged.

Bison Elevator Service, based in Buffalo, secured the largest contract, valued at $2.53 million. Additionally, Auburn’s own Bouley Associates received a $1.3 million contract for its contribution to the project. Other firms, including Upstate Companies I, Wilkins Mechanical, and Michael Ferrauilo Plumbing and Heating, were also granted contracts totaling over $542,000.

Though the contracts were officially awarded on Thursday, a specific timeline for the project’s commencement and completion remains unconfirmed. The state Office of General Services has yet to provide further details about the project as of Monday.
