The Buffalo Sabres fell behind early and could not complete a comeback, losing 3-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning at KeyBank Center on Saturday afternoon, capping a six-game homestand.
Dylan Cozens scored the lone goal for the Sabres (20-22-4) in the second period, his eighth of the season. Rasmus Dahlin and JJ Peterka tallied assists, while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 13 saves.
Buffalo went 0-for-2 on the power play and a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The Sabres will begin a three-game West Coast trip on Tuesday when they visit the Anaheim Ducks at 10 p.m.
