Florida woman sentenced for robbery and drug possession in Cayuga County

Courtney F. Donovan, a 26-year-old woman previously from Lehigh Acres, Florida, has been sentenced to prison on charges of robbery and drug possession. Following a prior agreement, one of her two second-degree robbery charges, a class C felony, was reduced to third-degree robbery, a class D felony. This reduction also resolved another second-degree robbery count and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

Donovan received a prison sentence of 3.5 to seven years for the third-degree robbery charge. Additionally, she was sentenced to five years in state prison, followed by three years of post-release supervision, for a separate charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both sentences will be served concurrently.

This case highlights the consequences of engaging in criminal activities, including robbery and drug possession. The sentencing of Donovan reflects the justice system’s commitment to addressing such offenses seriously. Her prison term aims to serve as both a punishment for her actions and a deterrent for similar crimes in the future.
