Wolcott woman arrested for welfare fraud, grand larceny

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Wolcott woman following a fraud complaint within the Department of Social Services.

Deputies arrested Cynthia Mein, 65, for two counts of grand larceny, welfare fraud, and offering a false instrument for filing after an investigation initiated by social services.

She’s accused of receiving benefits, of which she did not report her income for accurately. All told, she received more than $3,500 worth of benefits illegally.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
