The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on a structure fire that happened a little before noon in Phelps.
First responders were dispatched to Sheppard Grain on Maryland Road for a structure fire. Upon arrival, they found a structure on the southeast side of the property fully-engulfed.
Due to the quick response by firefighters – the fire was contained and knocked down without further injury.
Several fire departments were called to the scene including Oaks Corners, Geneva, Lyons, Phelps, Northside, Fairville, Marbletown, Seneca Castle, Junius, Border City, Waterloo, East Palmyra, Varick, Fayette, Canoga, and the Ontario County Fire Coordinators Office.
Finger Lakes Ambulance and Phelps Ambulance also assisted along with the Phelps Highway Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
