The morning commute is going to be a little tricky. Especially given the fact that we haven’t had that much wintry weather so far this season.
The National Weather Service has maintained a Winter Weather Advisory for three counties in the Finger Lakes. Ontario, Wayne, and Monroe counties are under that advisory until 1 p.m.
Northwest winds are going to usher in a period of lake effect snow that will essentially peak during the morning commute between 5 and 10 a.m. If you’re traveling along the New York State Thruway, or State Routes 96, 31, or 104 – expect tricky conditions.
It’s not going to be a major accumulation, but 2-5 inches is expected throughout those areas. Outside of those counties expect 1-3 inches of snow.
There could be a few spots in Wayne County that pick up closer to 6 inches of snow, but that will be it for our neck of the woods.
If you’re traveling toward Buffalo expect worse conditions.
