Seneca Falls woman faces multiple charges after being arrested twice in 30 minutes

  • Staff Report

Jamie L. Swarthout, a 31-year-old resident of Seneca Falls, was arrested by the Seneca Falls Police Department on the night of November 19 due to a bench warrant issued for her failure to appear in court.

The warrant stemmed from an original arrest in January 2023, when Swarthout was charged with domestic incident-related charges.

Following the issuance of the bench warrant, she was taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.

However, Swarthout’s legal troubles compounded shortly after her initial arrest. At 11:50 p.m., on the same night, she was arrested again at the police headquarters.

According to police, Swarthout resisted the standard processing procedure, which includes taking fingerprints and photographs. Her persistent refusal to comply with the processing led to an additional charge of obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Following this second arrest, Swarthout was transported back to the Seneca County Jail, where she awaited further arraignment.
