The Wayne Central School District Board of Education has announced the appointment of Jennifer Yerkes, a veteran educator from Fairport, as the new Director of Student Services. Bringing over 17 years of experience within the district, Yerkes is poised to enrich her long-standing commitment to student achievement in her latest leadership role.

Yerkes’ tenure at Wayne has been marked by impactful positions, most recently as the Multi-Tiered System of Supports coordinator since fall 2022. She has played a crucial role in enhancing the academic and socio-emotional development of students across all levels through collaborative, data-oriented intervention strategies. Prior to this, from 2006 to 2020, Yerkes dedicated herself to special education, tailoring learning experiences for middle school students with diverse needs.

The progression of Yerkes’ career in the district has included a tenure as Dean of Students at Wayne Central Middle School, where she nurtured a positive school environment, and as K-12 Technology and Enrichment coordinator, where she advanced technology integration and enrichment programs. Her academic credentials include a Master of Education in Special Education, professional certifications in School District and Building Leadership, and dual bachelor’s degrees from St. John Fisher University. As a parent of two children within the district, Yerkes’ professional investment is complemented by her personal stake in the community’s educational landscape.
