Penn Yan police give update on rollover crash that left two hospitalized: One person airlifted

Police have given an update on the serious accident that happened in the village of Penn Yan last week.

Two people were hurt in the wreck, and police tell Finger Lakes News Radio that Edward James, the driver of the vehicle, fell asleep at the wheel.


The wreck happened Thursday night around 11 p.m. on Clinton Street.

The vehicle overturned and came to rest in the front lawn of a home there.

Penn Yan police and fire responded to the scene, as well as Penn Yan Ambulance and Yates County Ambulance.

James was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital. His passenger was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for a non-life threatening injury.

Police now say tickets are pending in the crash.
