In a series of events unfolding early on October 22, Ithaca Police officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire and a subsequent burglary.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers near West State Street and Plain Street reported hearing what sounded like several gunshots.

Despite a thorough sweep, officers found no evidence or victims linked to the incident.

By 3:00 a.m., fresh reports emerged regarding shots fired near West Seneca and Corn Street.

Officers once again canvassed the area but were unable to locate any related evidence or victims. In a separate incident at approximately 3:45 a.m., a break-in was reported at a business within the 500 block of West State Street.

Responding officers discovered a damaged rear door and upon entering the establishment, apprehended 24-year-old Asa Carr of Ithaca. Carr was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary and awaits arraignment.
