Police say a teen riding an electric bicycle was struck last week in the village and suffered serious enough injuries that he had to be airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital.
The incident happened last Monday, according to first responders, who say the teen was traveling at a high rate of speed on an electric bike.
The teen struck the side of a delivery van. As result of the collision, the teen was wedged under the van until first responders were able to remove him.
The teen has since been released and suffered non life threatening injuries in the accident. However, the driver of the van was cleared of wrongdoing in the investigation.
The Penn Yan Fire Department, Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance, and Yates County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Penn Yan Police Department at the scene.
