A stretch of 5&20 in Geneva, from Lake Street to the Seneca County line, is set to undergo significant improvements in 2024.

The Finger Lakes Times reports that while initially listed for repaving by the Department of Transportation (DOT), indications suggest a more extensive overhaul may be in the pipeline.
Geneva’s City Manager, Amie Hendrix, informed the City Council and the Industrial Development Agency of a potential “road diet” for this section, similar to the recent corridor reconfiguration in the city.
Although DOT’s current website description focuses on repaving and guardrail enhancements, with a cost projection of $2 million, the expansion to a full corridor redesign could escalate expenses to around $12 million.
Another area of concern brought forward by city councilors is the deteriorating South Main Street bridge over 5&20, which has been added to the discussion agenda.
