Uncertainty looms around League of Women Voters’ forums in Geneva

A state of uncertainty currently surrounds the potential hosting of candidate forums by the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Geneva, as most city Republican candidates have reportedly either declined or failed to respond to invitations to participate in the events.

However, Christine Hoffman, responsible for voter services at the League, refuted claims of cancellation, labeling them as mere rumors at this stage, according to reporting by The Finger Lakes Times.

A concrete decision on whether the forums will proceed is anticipated to be made in the league’s board meeting in the first week of October.

City Democrats, having claimed that their ten-candidate slate has all agreed to participate, expressed disappointment over the lack of commitment from their Republican counterparts, emphasizing the forums’ traditional role in providing voters with critical information ahead of the elections.

Editor’s Note: FingerLakes1.com has been hosting one-on-one interviews with candidates for elected office across the region. Any candidates interested in participating can send an email to [email protected] to schedule.
