Hosmer Winery, a longstanding estate winery in New York’s Finger Lakes region, emerged as a standout in the 2023 New York Wine Classic, garnering a total of seven medals.
Among its honored wines, three achieved gold status: the 2021 Patrician Verona Reisling, the 2021 Limited Release Chardonnay, and their standard 2021 Chardonnay. The winery also secured four silver medals for its 2021 Grüner Veltliner, 2021 Semi-Dry Riesling, 2022 Dry Rosé, and 2022 Dry Riesling.
Located on the west side of Cayuga Lake at 7020 Route 89 in Ovid, Hosmer Winery benefits from the Patrician Verona Vineyard’s prime location within the Finger Lakes Region. Established in 1972, this nearly 70-acre vineyard boasts ideal conditions like silt loam soils, shale bedrock, and an easterly slope. Producing a variety of premium wine grapes, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling, the vineyard and winery’s approach centers on sustainable agricultural practices. By preserving and enhancing the soil health, the produced wines reflect the true essence of the Patrician Verona Vineyard. Wine enthusiasts can visit Hosmer Winery for tastings throughout the year.
