As school resumes across the Finger Lakes, students and teachers are bracing for near-record heat, mirroring July-like conditions.
A heat advisory has been announced for the Finger Lakes region, effective Tuesday, with potential extensions into Wednesday and Thursday.

The advisory warns of significant heat and humidity, creating risks of heat-related illnesses, particularly heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Schools without air conditioning and students on afternoon bus rides are anticipated to face discomfort.
For areas under the advisory, residents are advised to consume ample fluids, seek air-conditioned environments, remain cautious outdoors, and ensure the safety of vulnerable groups and pets. A transition to more seasonal and cooler temperatures is anticipated in the coming days.
