Tragic rollover accident on I-390 claims three lives, including pregnant woman

A morning road trip to Niagara Falls ended in tragedy when a 2005 Ford E-350 van, carrying 13 passengers, rolled over on I-390 northbound near the Town of Wayland on August 19 around 9:18 a.m. The vehicle, ferrying three families from Norristown, PA, met with disaster after its rear passenger tire malfunctioned. The driver, 41-year-old Adrian Andrade-Dolores, veered off the roadway, causing the van to tumble multiple times.

Among the injured, nine were rushed to Noyes Hospital in Dansville. Margarita Ramirez-Luna, 40, who was pregnant, unfortunately did not survive, though her baby was delivered successfully at the hospital. Tragically, the newborn later passed away. Another victim was taken to St. James Hospital in Hornell, while two others were airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Alex Andrade, 12, was declared dead on the scene by the Steuben County Coroner.

The passengers ranged from a one-year-old to a 49-year-old, representing three families bound together by a shared vacation plan. They included individuals such as Jorge Dolores-Gonzales, 34, David Estrada-Elias, 40, and Yasmin Ramirez, 16.

Multiple agencies, including the New York State Police, local ambulance services, fire departments, and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, swiftly responded to the accident. The case remains under active investigation with units such as the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Collision Reconstruction Unit deeply involved.
