Police arrested a Lyons man following an investigation into a vehicle pursuit that happened during the overnight hours on August 11.
According to a news release, deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, headed east on State Route 104 in Sodus. A traffic stop was attempted when the vehicle was southbound on State Route 14, but the operator, identified as 19-year-old Joseph Shaffer, disregarded deputies’ emergency lights and sirens.
The vehicle traveled off the road, and a short time later, Shaffer was found outside his vehicle.
He was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, and nearly a dozen other traffic violations.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The charges will be answered at a later date.
