Steuben motorcyclist killed in Livingston County crash

A motorcycle accident in Livingston County claimed the life of 38-year-old James E. Henry from Arkport, Steuben County on Thursday, as per Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.

The fatal incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on Groveland Station Road near Hammond Road in the Town of Sparta. Sheriff’s Office crash investigators reported that Henry’s northbound motorcycle slowed down, veered off the road, and struck a wire fence, leading to his immediate death on the scene as confirmed by law enforcement officials.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation into the crash is ongoing with multiple divisions involved including the Command Staff, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Identification Unit, and Drone Unit.

In response to the accident, the Dansville and Sparta fire departments, Dansville Ambulance, and Livingston County EMS were dispatched to the incident.
