Rose man charged with DWI after crash that ejected passenger

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a local man over the weekend following an investigation into a personal injury car accident that took place on June 18, 2023, in the town of Arcadia.

Joshuan O. Vazquez Santiago, 20, was arrested on multiple charges including Driving While Intoxicated Common Law, Operating a Motor Vehicle after Consuming Alcohol while under age 21, Failure to Keep Right, Moving from Lane Unsafely, Operating a vehicle while using a mobile phone, and No Seatbelt for a Passenger over 16.

Upon arrival at the scene of the accident, deputies discovered Vazquez Santiago outside an overturned vehicle and a passenger who had been ejected. It was alleged that Vazquez Santiago was the driver of the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were administered at the scene, and Vazquez Santiago was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where he voluntarily submitted to a blood draw.

Lab results revealed Vazquez Santiago had a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .07 at the time of the crash. His arrest came after the blood panel results were received on July 30. Following his arrest, Vazquez Santiago was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing and was later released on traffic tickets.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Arcadia Court at a future date to answer to the charges.
