Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes celebrates 40th anniversary of Community Lunch Program

Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its Community Lunch Program, a vital local resource that served over 20,000 meals in the past year. The celebratory event will take place at Geneva on the Lake on Thursday, August 24, beginning at 6 pm. Frank A. Capozzi Jr, Executive Director of Catholic Charities, expressed pride in the program’s significant role in combating hunger in Geneva and surrounding areas over the last four decades.

Registration is required for the celebration, which promises an evening of food, drinks, music, and fun in honor of the Community Lunch Program. Although the event is free of charge, donations to support the program are welcome. The lunch program, hosted at the First Methodist Church, operates in collaboration with the Geneva Interfaith Council, serving freshly prepared meals from Monday through Friday.

Since 1982, Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes has been dedicated to serving people in need, particularly at-risk children and families, in Ontario, Seneca, Cayuga, Yates, and Wayne Counties. They offer a variety of social service and advocacy programs.
