Tompkins Financial promotes Matthew Tomazin to EVP and CFO

Tompkins Financial Corp. announced today the promotion of Matthew Tomazin to the role of Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Treasurer, effective from October 1, 2023. Tomazin, previously the Senior Vice President and Treasurer of the company, has spent over a decade in bank financial management. His prior experience encompasses financial modeling, asset and liability management, governance, and strategic planning.


In his newly elevated position, Tomazin will steer the company’s financial activities and strategies. This entails offering strategic financial counsel, supervising financial operations, and making key decisions to augment the company’s growth and profitability. He will report directly to Steve Romaine, President and CEO of Tompkins Financial.

Romaine expressed his confidence in Tomazin, commending his financial acumen and strategic capabilities. His sentiments were echoed by Frank Fetsko, the retiring CFO and COO of Tompkins Financial, who praised Tomazin for his contribution to the company and expressed assurance in his future success. Beyond his professional commitments, Tomazin is active in his local community, having served on various boards and as a youth soccer coach. He, his wife, and daughters reside in Newark Valley, New York.
