Rochester man released after giving deputy concussion at Eastview Mall while resisting arrest

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says a Rochester man was arrested on an assault charge after an incident involving a police officer.

Deputies were called to a disturbance on Wednesday at Art Interpreted in Eastview Mall. The defendant, identified as Timothy Hagen Jr., 26, had struck an employee – then fled the scene.

Deputies made contact with Hagen and asked him to leave the Eastview Mall property. He refused to cooperate and attempted to flee.

A taser was deployed and Hagen was taken into custody. However, he punched a deputy in the face causing a concussion.

The deputy was transported to Thompson Hospital where he was treated for a concussion.

Hagen was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, trespass, obstruction, and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned at the Ontario County Jail, but refused to cooperate with deputies there, too.

After the incident and arraignment, Hagen was released on his own recognizance.
