Bob and Dawn Heintzelman, a local couple who once predicted owning Orbaker’s Drive In, have now taken over the historic Wayne County.
Bob Heintzelman, who worked at the restaurant as a teenager, along with his wife, will manage the iconic burger and ice cream restaurant while also operating their 9-year-old barbecue business, Heintzelman’s BBQ Pit.
The two establishments are located roughly seven miles apart.
Orbaker’s Drive-In, which first opened in 1932 and was bought by Bill O’Hara in the 1960s, has passed into new ownership after remaining in the O’Hara family for over 60 years.

While the restaurant will continue to serve its traditional offerings including burgers, hot dogs, and ice cream, the menu will also see the addition of popular items from Heintzelman’s BBQ Pit such as homemade macaroni salad, mac and cheese, pulled pork, and glazed sweet potato fries.
Some minor refurbishments are planned for the place, and future prospects include online ordering services, a mini-golf course, paving the parking lot, and organizing bike nights and car shows.
