Following a bank robbery at Tompkins Trust Bank in Cortland on June 23, Cortland Police have apprehended two suspects.
The robbery occurred at approximately 11:49 a.m. when Daniel Thilburg, 53, from Maine, allegedly handed a note to a bank teller, stating his intention to rob the bank and demanding cash. Thilburg, with alleged accomplice Angela Schmidt, 48, of Cortland, fled the scene in a white Mitsubishi with “several thousand dollars of cash,” according to Cortland Police.
Thilburg was apprehended at 7:24 p.m. on the day of the robbery, and Schmidt was taken into custody approximately an hour later. Following their arraignment, Thilburg was remanded to Cortland County Jail without bail, while Schmidt was released. Both are scheduled to appear in Cortland City Court on June 28.
Both suspects are charged with third-degree robbery, third-degree grand larceny, and fifth-degree conspiracy.
