Suspects in custody after bank robbery in Cortland

Following a bank robbery at Tompkins Trust Bank in Cortland on June 23, Cortland Police have apprehended two suspects.

The robbery occurred at approximately 11:49 a.m. when Daniel Thilburg, 53, from Maine, allegedly handed a note to a bank teller, stating his intention to rob the bank and demanding cash. Thilburg, with alleged accomplice Angela Schmidt, 48, of Cortland, fled the scene in a white Mitsubishi with “several thousand dollars of cash,” according to Cortland Police.

Thilburg was apprehended at 7:24 p.m. on the day of the robbery, and Schmidt was taken into custody approximately an hour later.
