Waterloo superintendent’s contract extension pulled from board meeting agenda at last minute: Public speaks in support of Bavis on Thursday

Around 80 people showed up to a Waterloo School Board meeting on Thursday after two failed votes to get a budget passed.

One issue that was expected to be acted on, but wasn’t, was a contract extension for Superintendent Terri Bavis.

Finger Lakes News Radio was there, reporting that nearly everyone in attendance supported the superintendent.

The first proposed budget was defeated by a slim margin. Then after a re-vote this week, the second budget was defeated by one.

Finger Lakes News Radio asked Board President Ellen Hughes why Bavis’ contract extension was pulled from the agenda- and she was stopped from answering the question.

While Superintendent Bavis has come under fire on social media, none of that energy was visible at Thursday’s meeting- where support for her was resounding.

The board has been forced to adopt a contingency budget as result of the two failed votes.
