What businesses in the Finger Lakes were granted cannabis licenses?

  • Staff Report

On Thursday, the New York State Cannabis Control Board (CCB) tentatively sanctioned 36 new Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) licenses, seven of which have been awarded to operators in the Finger Lakes region.

This makes the Finger Lakes the latest region in the state equipped for licensed cannabis sales after the resolution of earlier litigation.

The new licenses elevate the total count of New York’s retail-dispensary licenses to 251.

Here are the local licenses that were issued:

  • MJ Dispensary
  • William J. Wheeler
  • Mach Enterprises LLC
  • Scott M General
  • High Points of Finger Lakes, LLC
  • Canna Life LLC
  • Northfield Consulting LLC

Senator Jeremy Cooney, Chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Cannabis, lauded the announcement, recognizing it as a significant stride for the region, its legal consumers, and communities that have experienced years of underinvestment.

The licenses in New York’s first legal adult-use cannabis retail dispensaries are assigned to individuals most affected by cannabis prohibition enforcement or nonprofit organizations providing support for former convicts. The CCB will persist in considering CAURD license applications on an ongoing basis, focusing on those who have experienced the impacts of cannabis-related convictions and nonprofits that have served formerly or currently incarcerated individuals.
