On Thursday, District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced that four Syracuse residents, Kahlila Bender Baker, Dathan Haynes, Tayonna Albert, and Tavaris McLaurin, have been indicted by a Cayuga County grand jury on one count of third-degree grand larceny.
The group is accused of stealing over $3,000 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s in the Town of Aurelius on June 11.
In addition to the larceny charges, Bender Baker was also charged with second-degree robbery, a Class C violent felony, for allegedly forcibly stealing property with the aid of another person.
While Haynes, Albert, and McLaurin face maximum prison sentences of 2 to 7 years, Bender Baker could face a 15-year determinate prison sentence and five years of post-release supervision.
All four were apprehended after leaving the store and will be formally arraigned before Cayuga County Court. The New York State Police, with assistance from the Auburn Police Department, conducted the investigation.
