The New York Yankees are close to getting back their starting center fielder.
Manager Aaron Boone told reporters Tuesday that Harrison Bader will begin a rehab assignment on Wednesday with Double-A Somerset.
If all goes well, the Yankees hope that Bader will return to the lineup for Friday’s series opener in Boston.
Bader was placed on the injured list at the end of May with a right hamstring strain. The 29-year-old was hitting .267/.295/.511 with six home runs and 19 runs batted in over 26 games this season.
