Mets sign Luke Voit to minor league contract

The New York Mets made a roster move on their day off, signing veteran first baseman Luke Voit to a minor league contract, per MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo.

Voit, 32, will report to Triple-A Syracuse and be active for Tuesday’s series opener against the Buffalo Bisons.

Since spending three seasons with the Yankees from 2019-21, Voit has been unable to find a home. He played for the San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals last season before signing with the Milwaukee Brewers this past offseason. However, he struggled at the plate and was designated for assignment at the end of May.

It seems Voit won’t be spending much time at Syracuse, considering how much the Mets’ offense has struggled.
