Macedon food pantry continues serving the community: How can you help?

Since its inception in 1973, the Macedon Food Pantry has provided invaluable support for families facing crises such as loss of income, illness, eviction fears, and food insecurity.

The pantry, which primarily serves Macedon and Walworth communities, operates with the assistance of local churches, organizations, and individual volunteers under the supervision of St. Patrick’s Church’s Social Ministry Committee, and is a member of Foodlink.

The pantry opens its doors for walk-in hours every Friday from 12:00-1:30 PM, where volunteers help sort and distribute food and personal items.

As Food Pantry chairperson Lucille Hamlin acknowledges, the unwavering dedication of volunteers has ensured the pantry’s continuity, even amidst the pandemic.

The pantry also hosts an annual Macedon Community Christmas Program, now in its 40th year, benefitting around 150 families yearly with food boxes, gift cards, and presents for children. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the pantry welcomes donations of food, personal items, and monetary contributions to continue their community services.
