The New York Yankees (36-26) opened a six-game homestand on Monday and fell 3-2 to the Chicago White Sox (27-35) on a smoky night in the Bronx.
Clarke Schmidt gave up a pair of home runs to the backup catcher Seby Zavala and the Yankees offense managed just two runs on three hits after getting no-hit through the first six innings by White Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa broke up the no-hitter in the seventh inning with a two-out RBI double. Josh Donaldson provided the rest of the offense, smacking a ninth-inning solo shot, his fourth of the season.
The Yankees will try to bounce back and even the series on Wednesday with Randy Vásquez making his second big-league start. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
