Mets blow three-run lead in series-opening loss to Braves

The New York Mets (30-31) blew a three-run lead in a 6-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves (36-24) in the series opener on Tuesday night at Truist Park after a 1-hour and 40-minute rain delay.

New York held a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning until Atlanta plated four runs to take the lead before adding another one in the eighth to secure the come-from-behind victory.

Pete Alonso hit his Major League-leading 22nd home run, while Francisco Lindor added his 11th.

Carlos Carrasco surrendered four runs over five innings. Drew Smith and Adam Ottavino each allowed a run in relief.

The Mets will try to snap their four-game skid on Wednesday at 7:20 p.m.
