One of the oldest running grocery stores in the Finger Lakes is changing hands.
The Ovid Big M has been sold to Scott and Jake Hermann. The brothers started in the grocery business many years ago working as stockers at Hegedorn’s Market in Webster.
Scott Hermann previously purchased Herrema’s Food Market and Seneca Knolls Big M in 2019 and 2022 respectively. “Three stores means increased buying power and better deals for our customers as well as increased benefits and opportunities for our employees,” Sue Cirencione said. “The same great Team will be serving under the same name- Ovid Big M- with the continued goal of excellent customer service and the ‘can do’ local shopping experience.”
The change in ownership means that a nearly 54 year run of Ovid Big M ownership in the McKee family will come to an end.
A meet the owners event is tentatively scheduled for June 17 with details to follow on the Ovid Big M Facebook Page.
