New York State Police in Canandaigua are warning residents of a scam being reported in the area.
It involves computers, where the victims say they are prompted with a message to call a phone number.
When they place the call they are connected with a person who says they are part of Microsoft’s Security Office.
They are then asked to provide their bank account information.
State police are advising anyone who receives such a call to not provide any personal information.
